"We lose ourselves in books, we find ourselves there too", was once said by Kristin Martz. I can relate to this quote in numerous ways. When I read especially when the books are really good, I find myself really into that book forgetting about my surroundings. I get so into it that I can't even hear if my mom calls me. That's what good books do to me and it's not hard for me to find myself when I'm lost. Sometimes when I read, I find myself making connections with the protagonist or other characters. I think I can find out who I really am when I read a book and how I feel about certain things.
I was never a big reader when I was in elementary school. I always saw students reading books but these are the question I often wondered, "What's so interesting about books?" or "Why is she/he reading??ITS LUNCH." I used to get like 20 books from the library but I only read 2 . I hate myself for wasting my time and not reading during elementary school. But everything changed when I came to middle school. In sixth grade, I read the book Coraline and I was in love with it. So I went into the fantasy section and started reading more fantasy books like the Chronicles of Narnia series and etc. In seventh grade, I saw people reading the Harry Potter series, so I searched up Harry Potter online and I found it so boring. Once I skimmed through few pages, I had goose bumps all over me. This happens every time I find the right book for myself. In the eighth grade, I discovered that there is a book called "Hush, Hush." Thanks to Salma Elsayed who actually introduced this book to me. I literary did nothing but read it, I stayed up until like two at night reading it even on school nights.
Now whenever I don't have the actual book itself that I like, I go online to read it. I also like rereading books and going on the same journey again and again. I like fantasy books a lot but besides that I also like reading realistic fiction for example, Sold, Homeless Bird or A Long Walk To The Water. Reading these books have impacted me in many ways for example, I love reading a new book and going into them as if I'm experiencing everything. I love all the plot twists and surprises that occur in books .I love learning about new characters and knowing all sorts of personalities that exists in the world.
