What has your experience been with poetry?
I actually had a diary at like ages 6 through 10 and I used filled up most of the pages with poems that I made up. I showed every poem to my mother and I wanted to see if she likes it. When I write a proper poem, it makes me feel really proud especially when I can make it rhyme. But that was when I was young, whereas, now I know for a fact that poems don't have to rhyme. I stopped writing poems when I was like 10 and after that my experience with poem only involved in school. Other than than I never wrote any on my own at home.

Do you Like Poems?
It depends on the poem. I don't really like the ones that are difficult to understand with all the words above my level. I like the ones that make you think for instance, if I think a poem means something but there's actually another meaning to that same poem then that makes it more interesting. If I think the meaning of poem is love but if others think the meaning of the poem is integrity, that makes me see the poem from a different point of view. I like that. The ones with more than one meaning or purpose.I feel like every time you read something new, you sometimes see a new/different perspective of the world. You find out something you probably thought didn't even exist before ,then you read a good book/poem and all of a sudden you find out there is something out there that exists. You wouldn't be able to know that if you didn't read any poems or books.
What kind of poetry do you like?
I like ambiguous poems. For instance, in Ela class I think I know the one and only meaning of the poem but the trick is there is no "one and only." My classmates all share their thinking and that makes my meaning like the 50th meaning of the same poem. That's what I like. When I hear new ideas of other people, it makes me say "huh that's a good point or oh that didn't cross my mind at all." Those kinds of poems are very interesting to me.

What do you wish to learn in this unit?
I want to know how to analyze a poem. I want to learn how to find a meaning to a poem once you've analyzed it. Especially at the end I want to to know how to write and develop a poem of my own (If that's part of this unit…..probably not).
