Why does the little prince easily accept the box that the author drew him instead of a sheep?
The little prince doesn't question the drawing of the box. Instead, he uses his imagination to believe that the sheep is inside the box suggesting that his mind is able to think creatively unlike majority of the grown-ups. When the author draws him the box and explains that there is a sheep inside, the little prince doesn't judge the drawing like how he did with the previous drawings. Instead he responds with, "That is exactly the way I wanted it!..." The prince's amused tone gave away the fact that with one simple explanation from the author, the little prince is all ears. In chapter 1, the author draws a boa constrictor digesting an elephant. When he goes around asking grown-ups to say what they see, they all respond with "That is a hat." This shows how children use their imaginations to think differently, whereas, grown-ups take the easy road. Some grown-ups are closed minded and lazy thinkers, but the little prince who adds inventiveness to their thinking. The little prince made his own way of understanding the box, but to most adults it would just act as a box.
